How to host a SoundCloud listening party

  1. Start a lobby on Music2gether. It takes one click and needs no account.
  2. Share the invite link or the five-character code with your friends.
  3. Paste SoundCloud track links into the add box. Open a track on SoundCloud, copy its link (or use Share → Copy link) and paste it in. It's added the moment you paste.
  4. Listen together. Play, pause, skip and seek stay in sync for everyone, and the chat lets you react as the drop hits.

Which SoundCloud links work

  • Public tracks, such as soundcloud.com/artist/track-name.
  • Private share links: the secret part of the link (the s-… code) is kept, so tracks shared privately with you play for the whole lobby.
  • Short links from the SoundCloud app (on.soundcloud.com/…).

Links to a profile, its likes or reposts, or a set aren't single tracks, so the lobby asks you to open the track itself. Tracks whose artists have turned off embedding are rejected with a clear message.

SoundCloud is where a lot of music shows up first: bedroom demos, bootleg remixes, DJ sets and tracks from friends. A listening party is the easiest way to get feedback while people are actually hearing it, with emoji reactions and a chat alongside the queue.

Frequently asked questions

Do my friends need a SoundCloud account?

No. Tracks play through SoundCloud's official embedded player, which works without logging in.

Which SoundCloud links can I add?

Links to individual tracks, including private share links and on.soundcloud.com short links. Profile pages, likes, reposts and sets (SoundCloud playlists) aren't supported yet.

Why can't a SoundCloud track be added?

Some artists turn off playback on other websites. SoundCloud reports that when we look up the link, so you'll get a message straight away instead of a silent gap later.

Can I mix SoundCloud and YouTube in one queue?

Yes. The queue takes both, and the lobby switches players automatically between songs.

How long can a listening party last?

As long as you like. A lobby stays open while anyone is connected, and is deleted 15 minutes after the last person leaves.
